About the position

The Human Resource Specialist at Wellpath plays a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and regulatory reporting. This position emphasizes autonomy and creative problem-solving while ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. The specialist will contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on caring for underserved populations, fostering a people-first culture, and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of HR policies, providing guidance to employees and resolving inquiries.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and maintain accurate HRIS records, including personnel transactions and payroll matters.
  • Manage unemployment claims and representation at hearings, while overseeing worker's compensation claims and FMLA processes.
  • Prepare critical reports, analyze trends, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Offer backup support for HR Assistant duties and lead workflow when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of related work experience and education required.
  • Good working knowledge and familiarity with Human Resources concepts, practices, procedures, and basic employment laws required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen required.
  • Experience working with an in-house HR Information System preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional in Human Resources or similar certification preferred.
