About the position

The Human Resources ADA Compliance Benefits Specialist at OneMain Financial is responsible for managing ADA accommodations and leave processes in compliance with federal and state laws. This role serves as a primary contact for ADA-related inquiries, ensuring best-in-class support for HR partners and management during the ADA and leave administration process. The specialist will analyze data, manage workflows, and ensure compliance with various leave programs while maintaining accurate records and communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the ADA process including compliant recordkeeping and decision making.
  • Lead workflow management and reconcile leave/ADA reporting for compliance.
  • Hold routine team meetings to manage caseloads timely.
  • Handle escalated employee leave of absence inquiries related to FMLA and other leave programs.
  • Analyze leave and ADA data to identify trends and compliance concerns.
  • Conduct periodic reporting and perform data audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Consult with HR partners and management to educate and resolve concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations regarding disability and family leave.
  • Update internal HR systems for accurate pay and leave administration.
  • Revise internal documents and policies to improve processes and compliance.
  • Process State Disability Claims as necessary.
  • Participate in special projects with the benefits team.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in US disability/leave administration and ADA accommodation.
  • Deep understanding of federal and state disability and paid family leave laws.
  • Thorough understanding of leave laws in a multi-state environment.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, with skills in VLOOKUP and data analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in administering a CA VDI Plan and other state disability offsets.
  • Prior Workday experience with leave, payroll, and ADA reporting.
