About the position

The HR Analyst - Employee Relations position delivers a broad range of professional employee relations and other Human Resources (HR) services. A key focus of the HR Analyst - Employee Relations is to support resolution of policy and procedural issues and inquiries, assist in the communication of interpretation and of rules and guidelines, and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations and Civil Service Rules and Policies. Generally, this position works a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days virtual work. Additional in office days are required as needed or directed. Frequent travel within Davidson County may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in HR related activities including, but not limited to employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, employee and management development, talent acquisition, training, and compensation.
  • Creation of Staff Reports and presentations to the Civil Service Commission.
  • Assist in Interviewing, analyzing, investigating, and reporting results of findings and recommendations on complex employee complaints involving employment laws, Civil Service Rules/Policies, and Executive Orders.
  • Review, draft, and present new policies and rules.
  • Provide basic guidance and interpretations to Metro administrators, managers, employees, and HR staff on Civil Service Rules and Policies, in addition to a wide range of employment laws.
  • Facilitate and assist in the resolution of employee complaints.
  • Perform classification and FLSA audits.
  • Coordination and participation in special projects.
  • Coordinate and participate in Metro-wide communications regarding Human Resources matters.
  • Ensure information on website/SharePoint is current and accurate.
  • Assist in the facilitation of ADA interactive processes.
  • Research and summarize on the impact of changes to employment laws and, the labor market, or matters impacting human resources.
  • Review and approve classifications for recruitment postings.
  • Ensure compliance with employee performance management and disciplinary action process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • SHRM, HRCI, or IPMA-HR Certification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment and resolution of complex employee relations issues, including EEO complaint investigation and responses to the EEOC.
