About the position

The Human Resources Analyst (Workers' Compensation) position at Mt. San Antonio College is a full-time role responsible for leading the coordination, facilitation, and participation in the investigation and response to workers' compensation claims filed against the College. This role involves attending related depositions and hearings, evaluating claims, and recommending settlement or litigation options based on the interpretation and application of established laws and investigative results. The HR Analyst will also assist in developing and implementing procedures for claim administration, processing claims, and maintaining appropriate files and reports. Under general direction, the HR Analyst performs complex and responsible professional-level human resources work in various areas such as recruitment and selection, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), classification/compensation, and leaves/benefits. As a confidential employee, the incumbent will assist management personnel with developing collective bargaining proposals and have regular access to information that contributes to management's collective bargaining positions and labor relations strategies. The position requires continuous monitoring and evaluation of service delivery methods and procedures, assisting in the preparation and drafting of initial proposals for collective bargaining, and providing management with assistance in interpreting and applying relevant regulations. The HR Analyst will also conduct training programs, respond to sensitive inquiries, and represent the department in meetings with other departments and outside agencies. Additionally, the role emphasizes the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility in all aspects of the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and facilitation of investigations into workers' compensation claims.
  • Attend depositions and hearings related to workers' compensation claims.
  • Evaluate claims and recommend settlement or litigation options based on established laws and investigative results.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures for claim administration.
  • Process claims and maintain appropriate files and reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and drafting of initial proposals for collective bargaining activities.
  • Provide management with assistance in interpreting and applying relevant regulations.
  • Conduct College-wide human resources training programs for staff as required.
  • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Represent the department in meetings with other departments and outside agencies.
  • Develop and provide complex reports to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Implement and foster an environment of belonging related to DEISAA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Social Justice, Anti-Racism, and Accessibility).
  • Lead and provide high-level customer service when interacting with the public, vendors, students, and College staff.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a regionally accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human resources management, business or public administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) full-time equivalent years of progressive experience in Human Resources area of assignment.
  • At least three (3) years of experience processing workers' compensation claims is desirable.
  • Experience working with policies and procedures relating to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a minority serving institution such as Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) or Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
