About the position

Fence & Deck Connection, Inc. is seeking a Human Resources and Payroll Generalist to join their Corporate Team in Halethorpe, MD. This full-time position involves supporting HR initiatives and managing payroll functions, ensuring compliance, and assisting with employee benefits administration. The ideal candidate will be energetic, self-motivated, and capable of handling various HR responsibilities while working closely with the Human Resources Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist employees with HR-related questions such as benefit information and new hire onboarding.
  • Conduct background checks, drug screenings, and employee reference questionnaires during the recruitment process.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and coordinate with different departments.
  • Serve as the point of contact for payroll and employee benefits inquiries.
  • Ensure payroll functions run effectively and efficiently, preparing and submitting weekly payroll via ADP Workforce Now.
  • Enter data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Process approved status changes, salary changes, garnishments, terminations, and withholding requests.
  • Review time and attendance records for completeness and accuracy for all departments.
  • Maintain accurate employee and benefit information in the HRIS system.
  • Process and update worker's compensation claims and reporting.
  • Participate in annual compliance audits and reporting.
  • Administer various employee benefit programs such as Healthcare, Wellness, HSA, and 401(k).
  • Manage paid-time-off (PTO) programs in the HR systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage leave management and related documents for LOA, FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Assist with benefits planning and administration, including coordination of annual open enrollment.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of benefit provider invoices.
  • Coordinate COBRA and other benefits for terminated employees.
  • Provide HR support, coaching, and mentoring to company managers and employees.
  • Assist in the development of personnel policies and procedures and maintain the employee handbook.
  • Prepare payroll, census, and compliance reports for management.
  • Complete employment verifications, unemployment claims, and payroll inquiries.

Requirements

  • Proficient in ADP Workforce Now
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in human resources or business
  • 3 to 5 years of HR Generalist experience
  • 3 to 5 years of full cycle payroll experience
  • Working knowledge of current Federal and state regulations regarding HR, Benefits, and Payroll issues
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
  • Well-developed organization and time management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
