About the position

The Human Resources Assistant - Benefits Specialist will play a crucial role in managing the recruitment and onboarding processes, benefits administration, and compliance within a well-established organization in North Sacramento. This position is designed to support the HR department by ensuring that all employee files are maintained accurately and in compliance with legal requirements, while also providing administrative support to the Executive Director and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage benefits administration and enrollment.
  • Prepare employee new hire packets.
  • Assure all personnel files are maintained and in compliance.
  • Organize and maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements; obtain proper paperwork from new hires.
  • Upload employee information into HRIS database.
  • Onboard new hires including I-9 documentation.
  • Maintain HRIS systems monthly.
  • Administer and manage workers comp claims.
  • Assist training coordinator with administrative tasks.
  • Collect and process timecards for payroll.
  • Keep track of vacations and benefits.
  • Facilitate employee relations ensuring a positive work environment.
  • Support the Executive Director and staff with administrative functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion at all times.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Ability to learn new duties and adjust to new situations within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office applications, the Internet, and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of human resources rules and regulations.
  • 1-2 years of human resources & related experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay rate of $27 - $32 per hour.
