About the position

The Human Resources Assistant III at Marshall University plays a crucial role in supporting the HR department by managing various administrative tasks and ensuring efficient HR operations. This position serves as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, facilitates new hire processes, and maintains employee records, contributing to effective employee relations and compliance with HR policies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point of contact for all visitors and employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Complete intake and processing of all new employee required forms and processes, such as I-9 information, E-verify processes, and background check compliance.
  • Create and maintain employee records and documentation in Banner ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Support the maintenance and update of HR information in Banner with employee data and changes.
  • Facilitate the new hire orientation process, including preparing materials and conducting onboarding with new employees.
  • Assist in organizing training sessions for HR team; track and maintain training records.
  • Assist in the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws.
  • Process routine HR functions such as employment verifications and prepare routing correspondence.
  • Maintain state purchasing card and is responsible for ordering office supplies and paying applicable invoices.
  • Process encumbrances and requisition in Banner for the HR office.
  • Generate reports as needed for HR metrics and compliance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or vocational or technical school degree.
  • 2 years of related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in Human Resources.
