About the position

The Human Resource Assistant/Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing payroll processes and supporting HR functions within the organization. This position involves processing payroll on a weekly basis using accounting software, ensuring that all employee timesheets are collected and verified accurately. The specialist will be responsible for resolving any payroll discrepancies by communicating effectively with Foreman and ensuring that all earnings and deductions are correct. Additionally, the role requires the calculation and remittance of all applicable taxes, 401K contributions, and child support on a weekly basis. Maintaining accurate employee records is essential, and the specialist will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. This includes entering new hires and rehires into the Foundation/Everify/ND Hire Reporting systems and updating employee records as necessary. The HR Assistant/Payroll Specialist will also process employee benefits and assist employees with any inquiries related to their benefits. Furthermore, the role involves assisting in the implementation of HR policies and procedures, handling employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality, and performing general office tasks such as answering phones, filing, and copying. The ideal candidate for this position will have a proactive approach and a passion for human resources and payroll management. They will be expected to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while meeting specific deadlines. This full-time position is based in Horace, ND, and requires a commitment to working Monday through Friday during day shift hours.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll on a weekly basis through accounting software.
  • Collect and verify timesheets from Foreman.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by communicating with Foreman.
  • Calculate and remit all taxes, 401K, Child Support weekly.
  • Verify earnings and deductions are correct.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Enter new-hires and re-hires in Foundation/Everify/ND Hire Reporting.
  • Update employee records as needed.
  • Process employee benefits and assist employees with inquiries related to benefits.
  • Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Handle employee relations matters professionally and confidentially.
  • Assist with general office tasks (answering phones, filing, copying, etc).

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years payroll experience (construction payroll preferred)
  • Knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • Strong computer skills
  • Accurate data entry skills with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to be an effective team player
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines
