About the position

This position involves processing various personnel actions within the Human Resources (HR) department, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy in personnel records and pay. The role is developmental in nature, aimed at preparing candidates for full performance at the GS-07 level. Responsibilities include auditing HR processes, coordinating with payroll, and resolving personnel transaction issues.

Responsibilities

  • Processes a variety of personnel actions including determining appointing authority and setting pay.
  • Participates in audits of HR processes by reviewing records and generating reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinates with payroll representatives and outside agency personnel to ensure accurate processing of personnel records and pay.
  • Researches and applies regulatory guidance regarding leave earning, probationary periods, and Thrift Savings Plan eligibility.
  • Communicates with HR staff and customers to resolve issues involving personnel transactions and records.

Requirements

  • GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04, demonstrating ability to perform HR administrative support functions.
  • GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05, providing administrative or technical support involving employment or compensation records.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated Human Resources (HR) or compensation systems.
  • Knowledge of federal employment regulations and policies.
