About the position

The Human Resources Assistant will support the Workman's Compensation Program at the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This role involves managing workers' compensation records, handling inquiries, and assisting with claims processing. The position requires maintaining databases, filing claim forms, and supporting various administrative tasks to ensure efficient operation of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor DEA Workers' Compensation Outlook Email Account and refer action items.
  • Maintain electronic database of incoming claim forms in Microsoft Access format and other workers' compensation records.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to non-technical inquiries regarding the Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP), take messages, transfer calls and use the Department of Labor's Agency Query System to answer routine workers' compensation questions from claimants.
  • Type correspondence, letters, memoranda, and other workers' compensation related documents and forms generated by the Workman's Compensation Specialist; photocopy, fax, and scan records to disk; and prepare and mail documents.
  • Enter new claims in Department of Veterans' Affairs Workers' Compensation Management Information Electronic Data Interface.
  • Set up case file folders for each claim received, and file OWCP and other related compensation documents in appropriate case files.
  • Maintain a directory of division, office, and laboratory workers' compensation points of contact.
  • Assist the professional staff in protecting employee confidentiality of OWCP information.
  • Use inventory sheets, packaging, mailing supplies, and shipping documents to archive records.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing workers' compensation records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access and database management.
  • Strong communication skills for handling inquiries and correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Organizational skills for managing case files and documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a federal contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Labor's Agency Query System.
