About the position

The Human Resources Assistant at St. Josephs Medical Center plays a vital role in maintaining personnel files for both active and terminated employees, while also providing clerical support within the department. This position involves answering employee inquiries, managing the volunteer program, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all personnel files for active and terminated employees.
  • Prepares files and records by making labels, gathering required standard information, and filing documents.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Locates, retrieves and delivers files and materials from files as requested.
  • Audits files for departmental policy compliance and DNV compliance.
  • Maintains files by recording materials, which are missing information and inserts additional information as necessary to keep files current.
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as photocopying materials, picking up and/or delivering materials, etc.
  • Provides additional support as needed to various Human Resource areas.
  • Manages the volunteer program.
  • Supports the compliance program set forth by Steward.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent, required.
  • One year office, clerical experience, required.
  • Technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to the area.
  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in Human Resources, preferred.
  • Previous experience in Healthcare, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Additional languages preferred.
