About the position

The Human Resources Associate at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Morristown plays a crucial role in supporting the HR functions of the institution. This position involves assisting with recruitment, onboarding, benefits enrollment, and maintaining personnel files, ensuring compliance with various policies and procedures. The associate will also provide support to employees regarding HR-related issues and contribute to the overall efficiency of the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment and hiring process including job announcements and interview documents
  • Assist with onboarding, benefits enrollment, and orientation for newly hired employees
  • Submit Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs) for employee additions, changes, and/or terminations
  • Coordinate with other departments to assign keys, computers, and other resources to new employees
  • Submit access requests to TBR for Banner account setup
  • Prepare appointment letters and/or employment contracts
  • Provide support to employees concerning personnel policies and procedures, benefits, and/or other HR related issues
  • Collect, verify, approve, and reconcile time worked for employees
  • Maintain personnel files
  • Collect and maintain retirement, FMLA, termination/resignation, workers compensation, and other employee paperwork
  • Participate in HR related training related to TBR, state, and federal policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Communicate new and updated HR information to employees
  • Maintain, update, and distribute Employee Handbook
  • Maintain faculty and staff Professional Development files
  • Complete and submit internal and external reports and surveys related to personnel management
  • Prepare and distribute annual faculty and staff evaluation forms
  • Schedule and track annual employee training related to Title VI, Title IX, and Security
  • Complete the annual Affirmative Action Report
  • Perform work in other functional departments to cover absences and/or to optimize peak work periods as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree Preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years in related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of the Banner system is a plus
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with faculty and staff
  • High level of accuracy, self-motivation, and strong attention to detail
