The Human Resources Associate provides administrative support in assigned functional areas of the People Operations - Human Resources Department. This role requires the application of broad standards, general instructions, or professional practices to frequently changing situations to support management in areas such as talent acquisition, staffing, compensation, and classification. The associate will determine work priorities, evaluate work in progress, and ensure deadlines are met. They will act as a liaison with other departments on matters related to their section and will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and submitting required reports, special projects, and other related Human Resources activities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work requiring the application of broad standards, general instructions, or professional practices to frequently changing situations to support management.
  • Determines work priorities, evaluates work in progress, and ensures the meeting of deadlines.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments on matters related to own department or section.
  • Responsible for creating, reviewing, and submitting required reports, special projects, and other related Human Resources activities as required.
  • Assists customers over the phone and in person.
  • Performs daily requisition checks and assists in screening applicants for minimum qualifications.
  • Adds, updates, closes, fills, or re-posts job postings as necessary on various platforms.
  • Retrieves and saves selection applications and supporting documents.
  • Contacts potential candidates and submits background checks.
  • Prepares and closes out staff and executive staff new position and reclassification request actions.
  • Scans and saves documents in the Banner Document Management System.
  • Creates and maintains position numbers as needed.
  • Processes name change and social security number updates.
  • Provides superior customer service at the reception desk as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and two years experience in related field.
  • A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and other university departments, vendors, and off campus agencies on procedural and policy matters.
  • Requires independent judgment, initiative, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Requires a level of skill with modern office equipment and the ability to type.
