About the position

The Human Resources Business Partner and Director of Learning & Development, Employee Relations, and Compliance at Saint Mary's College of California plays a dual role in supporting the organization's objectives through strategic HR partnership and operational leadership. This position involves aligning HR strategies with business goals, coaching executives, overseeing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The Director is responsible for developing training initiatives, managing performance reviews, and fostering organizational capability while collaborating with various stakeholders across the campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation on effective performance consulting for departmental and campus-wide projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct assessments, goal development, and leadership/team development.
  • Design and source programs for career development, training, mentoring, and growth.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct training programs based on departmental needs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and monitor compliance with training regulations.
  • Manage the annual performance training process and budget.
  • Develop and implement HR-related communications, including newsletters and website updates.
  • Collaborate with campus leaders and HR to ensure alignment of strategies and programs.
  • Meet with employees to address concerns and conduct investigations.
  • Maintain training logs and ensure compliance with legally obligatory trainings.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in HR, Learning and Development, Employee Relations, and Compliance.
  • Knowledge of compliance, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • SHRM or similar certifications.
  • Understanding of higher education HR needs for employees and faculty.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $107,749 - $139,826 per year.
