About the position

The HR Business Partner and Director of Learning & Development, Employee Relations, and Compliance at St. Mary's College of California is a dual-role position responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives and providing operational leadership in learning and development initiatives. The role involves collaborating with management and employees to enhance organizational capabilities, manage employee relations, and ensure compliance with regulations. The Director will oversee training programs, performance evaluations, and competency development while acting as a key resource for HR-related communications and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation on effective performance consulting for departmental and campus-wide projects.
  • Conduct assessments, goal development, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Design and source programs for career development, training, and mentoring.
  • Plan and conduct training programs based on departmental needs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and monitor compliance with training regulations.
  • Manage the annual performance training process and budget.
  • Develop HR-related communications, including newsletters and website updates.
  • Collaborate with campus leaders to ensure alignment of HR strategies and programs.
  • Conduct investigations for employee concerns and collaborate on problem-solving.
  • Supervise student workers and consultants, and co-instruct organizational courses.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in HR, Learning and Development, Employee Relations, and Compliance.
  • Knowledge of compliance, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • SHRM or similar certifications.
  • Understanding of higher education HR needs for employees and faculty.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $107,749 - $139,826 per year.
