Boulder County Human Resources (HR) Department is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Employee Relations Business Partner to join our team! The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a journey-level classification. This position performs a variety of complex professional human resources duties and works with a considerable degree of independent judgment and decision-making. This position reports to a Senior HR Business Partner and Employee Relations Manager in the employee relations division and performs related work for the entire organization. Responsibilities

  • Supports employees and supervisors with employee relations, performance management, coaching, and internal processes and policies
  • Provides technical Human Resources assistance to employees and the general public as needed
  • Reviews and implements process improvements with a racial equity lens
  • Utilizes data analysis and Excel skills to make data-driven decisions
  • Assists with disciplinary review, including editing disciplinary documents and coordinating data collection as well as reviewing and recommending personnel actions in the areas of hiring, discipline and termination of County staff
  • May participate in interview panels and guide hiring managers in the inclusive hiring process
  • May teach and guide supervisors in employee relations processes and learning opportunities
  • May perform job audits and make classification recommendations to HR managers
  • May develop strategies for employee relations processes
  • Completes special projects as assigned
  • May present and/or teach policies and procedures or other content both virtually and in-person
  • May develop content for training delivery
  • Performs related work, as required
  • May be reassigned during emergency situations

Requirements

  • 6 years of combined education and experience in a related human resources field
  • 1 year of employee relations experience (examples: coaching, mediation, labor relations, and workplace investigations)
  • Must pass a conditional post-offer background check
  • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) during the pre-employment screening process
  • Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of experience in employee relations (examples: coaching, mediation, labor relations and workplace investigations)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
