About the position

The Human Resources Business Partner will serve as a strategic partner to business unit leaders, aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals. This role involves supporting talent management, employee relations, coaching, performance management, and organizational development, while fostering strong relationships with employees and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the HR liaison for assigned business units.
  • Cultivate relationships with leaders and employees to build trust as their primary touchpoint.
  • Serve as the point of contact for fulfilling day-to-day HR inquiries and ad-hoc inquiries.
  • Work closely with managers of bargaining employees to address grievances, interpret contract language, and drive consistency in decision-making.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase retention.
  • Monitor employee engagement and ensure a high level of employee satisfaction.
  • Implement Human Resources policies, programs, practices, and processes and communicate them clearly to employees and managers.
  • Provide support for special projects as needed.
  • Address employee complaints/concerns related to workplace dynamics and/or performance in a timely manner.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership.
  • Conduct proactive check-ins with departments & managers.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations when required.
  • Provide guidance on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Partner with leadership to build an employee engagement strategy based on survey feedback.
  • Manage off-boarding activities, including exit interviews.
  • Act as an emergency responder.

Requirements

  • Employee Relations Experience.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Experience advising managers on a range of people matters.
  • Ability to work on sensitive matters with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple, and at times competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Confidence to develop, drive and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Labor Union experience is a plus.
