About the position
The Human Resources Commission consists of five (5) members and acts in an advisory capacity to both the City Council and the Personnel Officer (City Manager) in all matters relating to personnel. The Commission reviews the City's position classification plan, hears personnel grievance and disciplinary appeals, and makes comments and recommendations to the Personnel Officer (City Manager) and City Council regarding such matters.
Responsibilities
- Review personnel administration, including the recruitment and selection process for the classified service.
- Hold hearings and make recommendations on personnel administration matters when requested by the council or personnel officer.
- Receive and hear appeals related to dismissals, reductions in pay, or violations of personnel rules and certify findings and recommendations.
Requirements
- Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Applicants must be a resident and registered voter of the City of West Covina.
Benefits
- Commissioners receive $50.00 per meeting attended, with a maximum stipend of $50.00 per month.
- No benefits are afforded to any commissioners.
