About the position

The Human Resources Compensation Specialist is a paraprofessional role within the Classification and Compensation team, responsible for performing complex and specialized tasks with a significant degree of independent judgment. The position aims to provide superior customer service to Boulder County government employees while promoting a culture of transparency, flexibility, and innovation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis for salary offer requests for new employees and promotions.
  • Develop, implement, and administer job classification plans, including writing classification descriptions and making classification recommendations.
  • Process Human Resources employee actions in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Provide technical personnel assistance to department directors, elected officials, employees, applicants, and the general public.
  • Coordinate special projects and may participate in county-wide committees or task forces.
  • Perform related work as required and may be reassigned in emergency situations.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal customers and provide outstanding customer service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field such as psychology, communications, criminal justice, or public administration.
