About the position

The Human Resources Compliance Coordinator at Southwestern Community College District (SWCCD) plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with federal and state disability laws and regulations, particularly the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This position involves independent review and analysis of complex duties related to human resources programs, providing guidance and training to various departments, and managing accommodation requests for employees with disabilities. The coordinator acts as a subject matter expert, overseeing compliance initiatives and collaborating with district leadership to foster an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the District's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator.
  • Provide guidance and training to District departments on ADA compliance.
  • Administer the disability accommodations program and communicate relevant information about accommodations and services.
  • Develop and maintain systems to track ADA requests, complaints, and outcomes.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and monitor district programs and compliance activities.
  • Review and recommend policies and procedures to meet compliance requirements.
  • Audit and evaluate the effectiveness of programs in meeting compliance obligations.
  • Interpret laws and regulations, making recommendations for policy updates.
  • Collaborate with leadership on employee relations issues and provide technical information regarding policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the reporting of human resources data to the Chancellor's Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, public administration, business administration, or related field.
  • Four years of professional job-related experience, with one year of experience equating to 12 months at 40 hours per week.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional license or certification in human resources (e.g., SHRM, PHR, SPHR).
  • Master's degree, Juris Doctor, or other advanced degree in related areas.
