About the position

The Human Resource Compliance Specialist at Barr will support the development and implementation of HR compliance programs, policies, and practices across the United States and Canada. This role involves serving as a subject matter expert, collaborating with HR teams to ensure compliance with legal and legislative requirements, managing compliance reporting, and staying updated on changing laws. The specialist will also oversee the annual DEI report and work closely with various stakeholders to maintain and update HR policies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the HR manager to identify and prioritize HR policies that need to be developed and/or updated.
  • Facilitate changes in practices, policies, and/or systems to support legal and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor, research, and analyze legislative and legal changes, providing recommendations on necessary policy changes.
  • Partner with HR staffing teams to ensure alignment on people policies and programs.
  • Inform remote work request processes and review compliance with employment laws.
  • Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports for the HR team.
  • Manage recruiting disposition codes in coordination with the HR manager and recruitment partners.
  • Stay abreast of the evolving HR compliance landscape and partner with HR teams and general counsel as needed.
  • Manage unemployment claims and collaborate on appeals with the HR manager.
  • Oversee immigration processes for employees traveling between the U.S. and Canada.
  • Coordinate Barr's annual DEI report and project manage the annual DEI work plan.
  • Responsible for all compliance reporting, including AAP, EEOC, and Vets reporting.
  • Gather and maintain Good Faith Efforts for AAP reporting while participating in DEI efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related area.
  • Three or more years of experience in human resource compliance and policy program oversight.
  • Knowledge of immigration laws.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Clear, tactful, and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and influence towards compliance.
  • Collaborative, process-oriented, and organized approach to tasks.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves
