About the position

The Human Resources Department Specialist position at the City of Boise involves assisting with a record-keeping project that requires maintaining important records for compliance. This temporary role is ideal for individuals seeking a flexible schedule, as it offers part-time hours of 19 hours per week. The specialist will be responsible for scanning, copying, and managing both paper and electronic documents, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, and working under general supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Scans, copies, transfers, and maintains paper and electronic documents and files.
  • Categorizes and indexes documents and files into the electronic record management system.
  • Follows and maintains department standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Works under general supervision within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintains retrieval, retention, and destruction processes for records.
  • Creates, administers, and assists with records retention and disposition schedules.
  • Develops, maintains, and documents standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Works with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Transfers information from one document or record to another.
  • Reviews processes for best practice and improvement.
  • Administers workflow for employee files and audits for completion.
  • Communicates with authorized individuals to find missing documents or information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience working with computers and general office equipment or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Working knowledge of general office practices and etiquette.
  • Computer operations and email usage.
  • Filing systems and records management.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Experience in records management and/or scanning/indexing.
