About the position

As the HR Director at Kindred Motorworks, you will be the first Head of Human Resources, responsible for establishing the HR infrastructure and fostering a values-based work culture. This role involves leading organizational design, talent management, compensation, compliance, and employee engagement strategies. You will work closely with management to resolve employee relations issues and drive processes that support growth and development within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Kindred's Leadership Team, enhancing collaboration and team effectiveness.
  • Create a People strategy to scale the business and drive employee engagement, retention, and performance.
  • Implement talent management processes and supporting HR technology, including talent acquisition and performance feedback.
  • Manage annual compensation and benefits planning, ensuring alignment with Kindred's compensation philosophy.
  • Provide balanced leadership as a member of management while advocating for employees.
  • Develop strong relationships across the organization and intervene as necessary at various levels.
  • Coach people leaders on effective employee relations and performance management practices.
  • Collaborate with the People Operations Specialist to develop and implement workplace culture practices.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure team members feel engaged, trusted, and recognized.
  • Mentor and coach the People Team on HR best practices and processes.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of progressive HR generalist experience.
  • Experience implementing HR strategy in a startup environment.
  • Experience managing people and projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to build and reinforce company culture at every HR touchpoint.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to influence leadership and improve outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Federal and California employment law, including CA/Fed leaves of absence, Workers Comp, ADA, EEO, FLSA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Passion for or experience in the Motor Vehicle or EV Manufacturing industries.
  • Experience engaging employees at all levels to drive business results.
