About the position

The Human Resources Functional Business Analyst (FBA) at Syracuse University plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR Department through the strategic use of technology and systems. This position involves maintaining the HR and benefits components of the PeopleSoft HCM system, acting as a liaison between HR and technical teams, and fulfilling data needs for operational and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation of new ERP systems or upgrades to existing systems, including table setup, conversion, business process design, testing, training, communications, and documentation.
  • Perform application system maintenance activities, including error/issue analysis and resolution, functional configuration, and business specification maintenance.
  • Collaborate with HR staff to ensure compliance with SU policies and legal regulations related to business processes and system functionality.
  • Recommend business process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy based on supported system knowledge.
  • Create data reports using Tableau in response to standard and ad-hoc requests from various areas.
  • Analyze and organize data sets for detailed HR reporting to meet emerging business needs.
  • Maintain and enhance custom databases in Microsoft Access for reporting on part-time instructor appointments.
  • Provide project management support for HR-related technology and business needs.
  • Participate in cross-campus committees, councils, and cross-functional teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Two (2) plus years of experience in a Human Resources setting with data and analysis responsibilities.
  • Experience with enterprise HR information systems, preferably PeopleSoft.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop outcome-based solutions.
  • Strong understanding of complex data structures for query development; familiarity with Tableau or SQL preferred.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive data.
