About the position

The Human Resources Generalist 1 position is a vital role within the Division of Administrative Services (DAS) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This full-time permanent position is located in Kanawha County, WV, and is responsible for a variety of human resources functions that support multiple agencies under the DHS umbrella. The primary focus of this role is to process numerous HR transactions, including new hires, promotions, transfers, and leave of absence requests, as well as application reviews and various other HR-related transactions. The successful candidate will utilize the Oasis system for processing these transactions and will be expected to provide guidance and direction to HR staff in field agencies, as well as to internal and external applicants or companies seeking assistance with HR matters. In addition to transaction processing, the Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation related to HR activities. This position requires a strong understanding of human resources principles and practices, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Requirements

  • Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting experience.
  • Graduate coursework may substitute for required experience at a rate of one year of experience for fifteen semester hours of education.
