About the position

The HR Generalist 1 position at the Bureau for Public Health is a critical role that involves planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of human resources functions within the organization. This position operates with limited supervision and is responsible for organizing complex HR duties within the human resources team. The HR Generalist will also play a key role in training and developing best practices to ensure accuracy, reduce errors, and improve workflow within the department. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Generalist 1 will work closely with leadership to generate reports, interpret policies, and troubleshoot and resolve complex human resources-related issues. This role requires a proactive approach to supervising and auditing work to improve outcomes, as well as collaborating with the HR director on large-scale projects that impact the organization. The position is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of HR operations and ensuring that the Bureau for Public Health meets its staffing and operational goals effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of human resources functions within the Bureau for Public Health.
  • Organize complex HR duties within the human resources team.
  • Train and develop best practices to ensure accuracy and reduce errors.
  • Improve workflow within the HR department.
  • Work closely with leadership to generate reports and interpret policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting experience.
  • Graduate coursework may substitute for required experience at a rate of one year of experience for fifteen semester hours of education.
