About the position

We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing coaching and counseling to managers and associates on moderately complex associate relations issues. You will serve as the HR point of contact for manager and director level staff, guiding them through conflict resolution, performance management, compensation, and other confidential Human Resources matters. This includes delivering corrective action and termination decisions to associates as needed. Your responsibilities will also include participating in weekly associate relations meetings, providing updates to the Associate Relations team, and tracking corrective actions in the assigned database. You will conduct basic or moderately complex internal investigations and partner with legal as necessary. Additionally, you will conduct exit interviews and participate in unemployment claim hearings, recommending methods for enhanced efficiency and productivity in achieving HR tactical goals. As part of your role, you will develop knowledge in other HR business functions such as benefits, HRIS, training, compensation, and wellness strategy. Ensuring compliance with HR-related legislation and policies will be a key focus, with oversight from HR management and Legal. You may also explore solutions presented by vendors and serve as a frontline liaison with them. Mentoring and training less experienced team members will be part of your responsibilities, as well as serving as a point person for medium-sized projects of moderate complexity and impact. You will gather and analyze data for business solutions, recommend and implement solutions, and participate in the annual associate handbook revision process. Providing excellent customer service to employees and business partners is essential, as is guiding managers on the Performance Evaluation process, including reading evaluations and assisting with salary information as needed. At times, you may also be responsible for full cycle recruiting for select positions within the business.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related discipline AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in HR, Business or related discipline AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0).
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR related legislation, practices, processes, programs, and technology.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective public speaking ability.
  • Previous experience working with others to resolve problems or conflicts.
  • Demonstrated capacity to mentor or train others.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding business and Human Resources matters.
  • Positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and a driven problem solver.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated critical reasoning skills.
  • Flexibility to travel (up to 10% of time).
