About the position

The Human Resources Generalist / Administrative Assistant (HRGAA) plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources department and administrative functions at Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions. Reporting to the Senior VP of Finance, the HRGAA is responsible for a variety of HR tasks including recruiting, onboarding, employee benefits administration, and compliance matters. This position requires a proactive approach to managing HR processes and enhancing company culture while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Hands on data input, recordkeeping, and records maintenance around HR matters in Paylocity.
  • Receives and initiates phone calls with candidates around the application process.
  • Works daily with the Sr. VP of Finance and General Manager to seek out promising candidates and makes calls around issues like desired compensation, night availability, work history, etc.; advises General Manager about promising candidates.
  • Coordinates with supervisors.
  • Monitors, administers and makes recommendations around job ads.
  • Onboarding, offboarding, celebrations, coordinates volunteer opportunities.
  • Tactically carries out culture building efforts as instructed by the Sr. VP of Finance and CEO.
  • Supports the Safety Committee around safety compliance matters and related recordkeeping.
  • Promotes a safe work environment.
  • Supports the Sr. VP of Finance and CEO with available reporting in Paylocity and creates new reports for specific needs.
  • Administers Benefits open enrollment annually; works closely with the Benefits broker to provide high-quality yet cost effective benefits.
  • Assists Sr. VP of Finance, General Manager and CEO with compensation increases, policies, market comparisons, job grades, and other related issues.
  • Manages and measures the 'attendance points' system in Paylocity.
  • Supports Sr. VP of Finance and CEO in keeping records around and managing the Performance Enhancement Program (PEP).
  • Enters garnishments into the payroll system; manages compliance around them.
  • Works with the Sr. VP of Finance to respond to legal matters with the TWC and state attorney general around unemployment claims, wage and employment responses, etc.
  • May assist Sr. VP of Finance with workers compensation premium audits.
  • Maintains organization charts in Paylocity.
  • Learns processes and procedures and looks for ways to assist with matters of efficiency.
  • Proactively assumes responsibility for tactical administrative matters.
  • Plans and runs events.
  • Represents company in community events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; some college is helpful.
  • Seven years' HR and Administrative experience, weighted more in HR.
  • Experience with third party Payroll / HR ERP platforms (Paylocity experience is a plus).
  • Bi-lingual or at least some Spanish is a plus.
  • Organized, self-starter, takes care of a problem rather than waiting for someone else to do it.
  • Good communicator.
  • Able to create new procedures quickly where needed.
  • Experience working with the TWC, the state Attorney General's office, the DOL, and ERISA.
  • Willing to work on-site; this is not a remote position.
  • Flexible, energetic, positive disposition.
  • Ability to take a great culture and enhance it, make it more visible and build on it.
  • Experience planning and running events without others' support.
  • Capable of filling in blanks for the vision that the CEO, General Manager and Sr. VP of Finance want to instill in the culture and Human Resources function.
  • Hands on, detail oriented.
  • A 'Can Do, I am responsible' attitude.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift ten pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
  • Bi-lingual or at least some Spanish is a plus.
