About the position

The Human Resources Generalist position at Chugachmiut, Inc. is a vital role that supports the Human Resources Manager in various HR activities. This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska, and requires the individual to work onsite at all times. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of functions including recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, retention strategies, compensation management, credentialing, and facilitating new-hire orientation. The role also encompasses training and development initiatives, along with other duties as assigned by the HR Manager. In this position, the HR Generalist will ensure that all new hires are properly credentialed and privileged as required by the organization. They will manage the recruitment process, keeping the application management system updated with applicant statuses and scheduling interviews accordingly. An effective and professional filing system must be maintained, which includes developing and processing new hire and benefits packets. The HR Generalist will also oversee the new hire orientation process, ensuring that all personnel files are created and maintained accurately, including active, terminated, confidential, I-9, and student/volunteer/contractor files. The role requires assisting employees with inquiries regarding new hire paperwork and benefits, as well as being responsible for data entry, reporting, and initiating changes within the HRIS system. Communication with the finance department is essential to ensure that database information remains accurate. The HR Generalist will execute special assignments and tasks as directed by the Human Resources Manager, and will also be responsible for researching and responding to correspondence from state and federal officials or private companies to verify employment history for current and former employees. Additionally, the HR Generalist will develop and maintain an up-to-date organizational chart and ensure that all organizational forms are current. The position requires discretion and independent judgment to complete assignments effectively. The HR Generalist must conform to safety policies and general housekeeping practices, demonstrating sound work ethics, flexibility, and dedication to the role. Responsibilities
