About the position

The Human Resources Generalist - Benefits & Leave position at Sunshine Ace Hardware is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits and leave programs. This role supports the HR team in delivering exceptional service and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The incumbent will also be involved in various HR functions, including payroll administration, recruitment, and onboarding, while focusing on enhancing employee experience through effective benefits management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS system.
  • Assist in preparing for and presenting at new-hire orientations.
  • Prepare and conduct annual open enrollment and monthly benefits enrollment meetings.
  • Assist associates regarding benefits claim issues and benefit plan changes.
  • Distribute all benefits enrollment materials and determine eligibility.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding benefit plan provisions, eligibility, and enrollment.
  • Prepare and reconcile benefits invoices for claims payment and research discrepancies.
  • Administer COBRA and assist in obtaining statistics for health, life, and retirement plan renewals.
  • Interpret and administer leave programs in accordance with federal and state laws.
  • Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork.
  • Conduct FMLA and Workers Compensation training for store managers and associates.
  • Maintain complete records of all leave of absence requests and track data.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on human resources experience is required.
  • HRCI or SHRM HR Certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of Google suite products.
