The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in managing various functional areas of Human Resources, including recruitment, orientation, employee relations, safety, and employee retention. This position is essential in supporting initiatives aimed at reducing employee turnover and attracting top talent to fill open positions. The HR Generalist will work closely with all levels of the organization, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a high level of discretion and professionalism. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety procedures to maintain a quality and safe product. Key responsibilities include administering human resource programs related to compensation, payroll, benefits, leave, disputes, investigations, performance management, recognition, and morale. The HR Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the Human Resources Manager. Engaging in employee relations activities and programs is also a significant part of this role, which includes attending disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed. The HR Generalist will support the recruitment and hiring process by managing job postings, sourcing and screening applicants, and maintaining recruiting systems. Collaboration with departmental managers is essential to understand the skills and competencies required for open positions, facilitating the hiring of qualified candidates. The onboarding process for new employees will also be supported, along with managing the employee referral incentive program and conducting exit interviews to report results. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Generalist will assist with performance evaluations, create employee communication materials, and support employee engagement activities such as appreciation luncheons and service awards. Maintaining employee records, compiling data, and managing the employee uniform program are also part of the role. The HR Generalist will conduct frequent plant walkthroughs to interact with employees and leadership, work on HR projects as needed, and stay updated on trends and regulatory changes in human resources and employment law. Furthermore, this position will support facility safety initiatives and collaborate with the EHS Manager on workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with quality programs that guarantee the production of safe, quality foods.
