About the position

The Bilingual Human Resource Generalist will oversee the daily operations of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring that all HR functions are executed efficiently and effectively. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the recruitment and hiring of staff, management of employee benefits and payroll, and the enforcement of company policies and practices. The HR Generalist will collaborate closely with departmental managers to identify the skills and competencies required for open positions, ensuring that the recruitment process aligns with the company's needs. In addition to recruitment, the HR Generalist will be responsible for administering various employee programs, including medical and dental benefits, leave of absence management, and compliance with federal and state regulations such as COBRA and FMLA. The role also involves conducting background checks and employee eligibility verifications, as well as implementing new hire orientation and employee recognition programs. The HR Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, addressing complex issues as necessary and maintaining compliance with employment laws and best practices. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining knowledge of HR trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies in the field. The HR Generalist will also be tasked with maintaining logs and spreadsheets to track various HR programs and will perform other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Manages Medical, Dental, leave of absence, and programs such as COBRA, FMLA, and Pregnancy Leave.
  • Assists in payroll processing including management of employee data and ensuring the accuracy of timesheets.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
  • Maintains logs and spreadsheets to track various HR programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 2-5 years of Human Resources management experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is essential.
  • Knowledge of current HR practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise reports and professional business correspondence.
  • Proven ability to effectively present and communicate information to employees at all levels.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve practical problems.
