About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at the City of Stamford is responsible for providing a range of professional HR services, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and training. This role ensures excellent HR service delivery to all employees and supports various HR functions under the direction of the Executive Director of Human Resources and Talent Management.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR services in recruitment and selection, orientation and onboarding, staffing and employment, leave management, and workers' compensation.
• Manage training and development initiatives and maintain HRIS and payroll systems.
• Foster positive employee relations and ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations.
• Assist in special projects as directed by the Executive Director of Human Resources and Talent Management.
• Ensure excellent HR service to all levels of employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of professional human resources experience, with at least two years in recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, position classification, or training and development.
• Master's degree in human resources, Public or Business Administration, or a related field may substitute for two years of experience.
• Must obtain Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or SHRM-CP within eighteen months of appointment.
