The Human Resources Generalist/Consultant at California State University, Fresno, plays a pivotal role in supporting the university's strategic priority to attract, develop, and retain a talented and diverse workforce. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, this position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including recruitment, compensation, classification, employee relations, labor relations, regulatory compliance, benefits administration, and training and development. The HR Generalist/Consultant is tasked with developing, recommending, and communicating human resources services, programs, and procedures tailored to meet the unique needs of their assigned clients. This role requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality, as it involves regular access to sensitive information related to collective bargaining negotiations, management strategies, investigations, and grievances. In addition to providing guidance and interpretation of state and federal labor laws and CSU/HR policies, the HR Generalist/Consultant will serve as the primary HR liaison to the Department of Athletics. The incumbent is expected to work independently, applying sound judgment to resolve complex employee relations issues and programmatic challenges. A comprehensive understanding of employment laws, policies, and workplace investigations is essential for success in this role.
