About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist at Walgreens, you will work under the direction of the HR Manager to provide comprehensive HR support across a variety of functions. Your role will encompass employee engagement, performance management, recruitment and selection, employee relations, compensation, employee benefits, training, and special HR projects as assigned. You will be expected to understand the business needs and how HR can influence and lead the organization to meet its key objectives. Compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations is paramount, and you will be responsible for maintaining this compliance while promoting best practices within the organization. In this position, you will build strong relationships with leaders and provide partnership to implement HR strategies, programs, and deliverables that align with business goals. You will offer coaching and guidance on organizational policies and practices, ensuring that all team members are informed about equal employment opportunities, sexual harassment policies, fair wage hour practices, and work conditions. Your responsibilities will also include supporting recruitment efforts for both exempt and nonexempt team members, conducting new employee orientations, and monitoring career pathing programs to facilitate continued growth within the organization. You will consult with managers and supervisors regarding absenteeism, turnover, and workforce data to help anticipate talent gaps. Your knowledge of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401K, will be essential in assisting team members with their inquiries. Additionally, you will attend facility meetings to provide updates on company news and changes, streamline communication, and facilitate discussions to encourage feedback and timely resolutions to ongoing concerns. Maintaining accurate employee records, including attendance, leaves, disciplinary actions, and new hire paperwork, will be a critical part of your role. You will also play a key role in fostering a culture of celebration, appreciation, and recognition to drive employee engagement. This includes supporting the launch of the annual engagement survey, analyzing results, and partnering with leadership to develop strategies that promote a positive workforce. The ability to work independently in ambiguous situations and make sound judgments will be crucial for success in this role. You will also mentor and help train less experienced HR staff, providing feedback on performance reviews and assisting with the selection of new team members.

Responsibilities

  • Attend facility meetings providing up to date information related to company news, changes, and announcements; streamline communication for favorable adoption of new initiatives, policies, and concepts.
  • Maintain employee records of attendance, leaves, disciplinary actions, and new hire paperwork as required.
  • Inspire a culture of celebration, appreciation, and recognition to drive engagement; support the launch of the annual engagement survey, analyze results, and partner with leadership to develop strategies to drive positive workforce.
  • Work independently in ambiguous situations; make sound judgments to analyze situations and make appropriate decisions and/or recommendations.
  • Mentor and help train less experienced HR staff; provide feedback on performance reviews; assist with interviewing and selecting new team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years experience in employee relations, staffing & selection, compensation & benefits and/or training.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, Labor and Employment laws, Workers' compensation, FMLA, ADA and OSHA laws.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years human resources experience in employee relations, staffing and selection, compensation and benefits and/or training OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years human resources experience in employee relations, staffing and selection, compensation and benefits and/or training.
  • Experience with Labor Relations.
  • Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing and/or production environments.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
