About the position

Under the direction of the HR Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will work collaboratively to provide comprehensive HR support across a broad range of activities. This includes employee engagement, performance management, recruitment and selection, employee relations, compensation, employee benefits, training, and special HR projects as assigned. The role requires a deep understanding of business needs and how Human Resources can influence and lead the organization to meet key objectives. The HR Generalist will maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as recommended best practices. They will partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) on escalated matters and provide coaching to leadership, promoting a positive working environment among all team members and ensuring smooth communication to resolve issues in a timely manner. The HR Generalist will build strong relationships with leaders and provide partnership to implement HR strategies, programs, and deliverables to the business. They will provide coaching and guidance on organizational policies and practices, including equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment, fair wage hour, and work condition practices. The role involves conducting and supporting recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt team members, as well as contingent workers, conducting new employee orientations, and monitoring career pathing programs for continued growth. The HR Generalist will consult with managers and supervisors on absenteeism, turnover, and workforce data to help anticipate talent gaps. Additionally, the HR Generalist will be knowledgeable about employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and 401K, to assist team members with inquiries. They will attend facility meetings to provide up-to-date information related to company news, changes, and announcements, streamlining communication for favorable adoption of new initiatives, policies, and concepts. The HR Generalist will facilitate discussions, encourage feedback, and provide timely resolutions, notifying management of ongoing concerns and trends. They will maintain employee records, including attendance, leaves, disciplinary actions, and new hire paperwork as required. The role also involves inspiring a culture of celebration, appreciation, and recognition to drive engagement, supporting the launch of the annual engagement survey, analyzing results, and partnering with leadership to develop strategies for a positive workforce. The HR Generalist must be able to work independently in ambiguous situations, make sound judgments, and mentor less experienced HR staff, providing feedback on performance reviews and assisting with interviewing and selecting new team members.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years experience in employee relations, staffing & selection, compensation & benefits and/or training.
  • Experience applying knowledge of Federal, State, Labor and Employment laws, Workers' compensation, FMLA, ADA, and OSHA laws.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years human resources experience in employee relations, staffing and selection, compensation and benefits and/or training OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years human resources experience in employee relations, staffing and selection, compensation and benefits and/or training.
  • Experience with Labor Relations.
  • Experience working in distribution, manufacturing, and/or production environments.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
