About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) plays a crucial role in supporting both domestic and global HR functions. This position involves a variety of administrative duties, compliance with HR policies, and the management of personnel records. The HR Generalist will work closely with the HR Director and Associate Director to ensure effective HR operations across multiple countries, contributing to the overall mission of UCEAP to provide transformative international academic experiences for students.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize data and documents for reporting and compliance using multiple data systems.
  • Facilitate recruitment activities for domestic and international staff, including job postings and candidate communications.
  • Administer global time reporting for international employees, ensuring compliance with timekeeping regulations.
  • Initiate and monitor staff onboarding, job changes, and offboarding processes.
  • Create and manage employee profiles and HR transactions within HR management systems.
  • Serve as backup for HR team members and assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and three or more years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem assessment skills to identify issues and develop resolutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to navigate SharePoint for document management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of human resources concepts and practices.
  • Experience with an HRIS or similar information management system.
  • Familiarity with university policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of global human resources.
