About the position

The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate with the VP of Employee Engagement & Equity to implement HR strategies that embody the core values of Second Harvest Foodbank. This role focuses on enhancing employee engagement and providing comprehensive support to employees at all levels, ensuring a positive workplace culture and effective employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to managers and team members regarding employment policies and practices.
  • Research and investigate team member concerns, making recommendations to promote positive employee relations.
  • Serve as the initial contact for employee complaints and workplace issues.
  • Manage and conduct employee exit interviews and analyze turnover data.
  • Develop and implement employee relations programming and strategies.
  • Administer guidance to management on employee relations policies and procedures.
  • Mediate disputes and conduct workplace investigations.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to develop and revise HR policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and support performance management processes.
  • Create and manage employee surveys related to HR, compensation, and benefits.
  • Deliver training programs on employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Manage long-term and short-term disability cases, as well as workers' compensation.
  • Maintain HR information system and ensure accurate reporting of employee information.
  • Assist with payroll on a biweekly basis and maintain confidential employee files.
  • Formulate and recommend HR policies and procedures to managers and employees.
  • Maintain compliance with labor laws and government reporting regulations.
  • Assist in recruitment and facilitate the hiring of qualified applicants.
  • Lead employee engagement programming and promote HR initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years of experience in a Human Resources role
  • 2 years of experience with staff recruitment and/or benefits administration
  • 1-2 years of experience with HRIS/Payroll Systems and applicant tracking software

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Human Resources Administration or related field
  • SHRM or HRCI certification
  • Experience with equity, diversity, and inclusion programs
  • Extensive experience with employee relations, business law, or mediation
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
