About the position

The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources and Employee Relations functions at Riverside Community College District. This position is responsible for performing skilled technical level responsibilities in accordance with District policies and relevant laws, ensuring the integrity of the recruiting process, and providing guidance to personnel. The role requires a commitment to diversity and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and performs a variety of work related to assigned functions of the office, including academic, classified, and EEO matters.
  • Screens visitors and telephone calls, providing information based on District policies and regulations.
  • Composes correspondence on various matters with minimal instruction.
  • Prepares, produces, and distributes materials and reports related to personnel functions under the direction of the Area Manager.
  • Maintains and scans District personnel files and records related to hiring and personnel actions.
  • Maintains working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff to facilitate appointments and meetings.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the recruitment process, including developing job announcements and participating in interviews.
  • Prepares and maintains recruitment and personnel files.
  • Schedules and facilitates interviews and communicates recruitment status to candidates.
  • Travels to various off-site locations for meetings, trainings, and presentations.
  • Ensures compliance with minimum qualifications for classified and academic employees as per guidelines.
  • Conducts references and background checks.
  • Performs Live Scan fingerprinting and monitors results.
  • Compiles and prepares reports using multiple software applications.
  • Prepares and reviews part-time faculty evaluation reports in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Prepares Board actions and transmits salary information to payroll.
  • Completes verification of employment requests and prepares employment forms.
  • Participates in strategic planning committees for the Diversity and Human Resources Department.
  • Enters employee information and maintains accurate records in multiple systems.
  • Evaluates part-time faculty qualifications for compliance with teaching standards.
  • Participates in New Employee Orientation and provides District presentations and trainings.
  • Maintains employee entertainment discount program and provides information as assigned.
  • Participates in in-service training programs and maintains a supportive atmosphere for all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or 60 units of college coursework from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time experience in a professional level position in human resources or a related field, preferably in higher education.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration, employment processing, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply District policies and procedures, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education human resources administration.
  • Familiarity with online applicant tracking systems and human resources software.
