About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Riverside Community College District is responsible for performing skilled technical level responsibilities in Human Resources and Employee Relations. This role involves maintaining the integrity of the recruiting process, providing work direction to personnel, and ensuring compliance with District policies and relevant laws. The position requires a commitment to diversity and effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and performs a variety of work related to the assigned functions of the office, including academic, classified, and EEO matters.
  • Screens visitors and telephone calls, providing information where judgment and knowledge of District policies are necessary.
  • Composes correspondence on various matters with minimal instruction.
  • Prepares, produces, and distributes materials and reports related to personnel functions under the direction of the Area Manager.
  • Maintains and scans District personnel files and records related to hiring and personnel actions.
  • Maintains working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff to facilitate appointments and interviews.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the recruitment process, including developing job announcements and participating in interviews.
  • Prepares and maintains recruitment and personnel files.
  • Schedules and facilitates interviews and contacts candidates with recruitment status.
  • Travels to various off-site locations for meetings, trainings, and presentations.
  • Ensures employees meet minimum qualifications as outlined in job descriptions.
  • Conducts references and background checks.
  • Performs Live Scan fingerprinting for the District.
  • Compiles and prepares reports using multiple software applications.
  • Prepares and reviews part-time faculty evaluation reports.
  • Prepares Board actions from knowledge or under direction.
  • Transmits salary information to payroll and records information for salary movement.
  • Completes verification of employment requests.
  • Prepares employment forms for various employee types.
  • Participates in strategic planning committees for the Diversity and Human Resources Department.
  • Enters employee information and maintains accurate records in multiple systems.
  • Evaluates part-time faculty qualifications.
  • Participates in New Employee Orientation and provides District presentations.
  • Maintains employee entertainment discount program.
  • Participates in in-service training programs.
  • Maintains a friendly and supportive atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or 60 units of college coursework from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time experience in a professional level position in human resources or a related field.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration.
  • Ability to interpret and apply District Diversity and Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
