About the position

If so, our client is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join their team! The Human Resources Generalist provides direction in HR functions at United Senior Services (USS) including recruitment, candidate screening, employment verification and testing, new hire onboarding, benefit enrollment & support, employee wellness initiatives, and HR policies and practices. The HR Generalist fosters relationships and collaborates with managers and staff to support strategy, coaching, development, engagement and retention. The HR Generalist will collaborate with the Executive Assistant on HR related tasks, including planning and delegation of work assignments. This role involves recruiting, providing initial screenings, coordinating interviews, facilitating paperwork and onboarding in the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborating with managers to understand required skills and competencies for openings. The HR Generalist will conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications, lead new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, and perform tasks required to complete human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave, performance and talent management, recognition, training and development, succession planning, and other personnel actions. Additionally, the HR Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. They will advise employees and supervisors regarding performance and disciplinary issues, conduct investigations as needed, and recommend appropriate action plans. The HR Generalist will serve as an advocate for employees by ensuring awareness of employee needs and concerns, researching best practices, and offering options to managers. Ongoing communication to employees about total rewards and benefits associated with their employment is also a key responsibility. Maintaining knowledge of compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices is essential, as is overseeing HR record management for all USS employees and human resource information systems, including managing payroll. Confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the position are paramount, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Oversees HR record management for all USS employees and human resource information systems, including managing payroll.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or related field required (SHRM-CP preferred).
  • 5+ years' experience in personnel management including employee relations, compensation, job analysis, recruitment and placement, benefits administration, training and staff development, policies and procedures, systems and records, employee communications, and counseling preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of related federal, state, and local government regulations and equal opportunity policies required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task in a fast-paced, friendly work environment.
