The Human Resources Generalist I at Esperanza Health Center plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Human Resources (HR) department across various functions. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including recruitment, screening, and interviewing applicants, as well as managing the onboarding process for new hires. The HR Generalist will also handle internal and external HR service requests, perform data entry, and assist in event planning and support, along with other administrative tasks as directed by the supervisor. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this role is essential for ensuring that HR operations run smoothly and efficiently. In the area of talent acquisition, the HR Generalist is responsible for sourcing and recruiting applicants by identifying and expanding new sources of candidates. This includes engaging with local and national networks, attending job fairs, and collaborating with various organizations such as trade schools, colleges, and churches. The HR Generalist will manage the entire recruiting cycle for open positions, working closely with departmental managers to understand the necessary skills and competencies, scheduling interviews, and facilitating the offer process. Compliance is another critical function of this role. The HR Generalist will review, track, and document compliance with mandatory training and continuing education requirements, ensuring that all employees meet necessary qualifications. This includes conducting background checks and maintaining adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist will also coordinate onboarding and orientation processes, working alongside the Benefits Coordinator to ensure a smooth transition for new hires. Additionally, the HR Generalist will assist with payroll processing in collaboration with the Finance department, which involves adding new hires to the payroll system, reviewing payroll for accuracy, and providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries. Event planning and project coordination are also part of the role, requiring the HR Generalist to support various staff training and appreciation events. Administrative support is a key aspect of the position, including responding to HR service requests, preparing employee communications, and maintaining personnel files. The HR Generalist will also track compliance with training requirements and assist in administering various HR programs related to compensation, benefits, and employee relations. Staying informed about trends and best practices in HR is essential for this role, as is the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-3 years of experience working within an HR department.
  • 2-3 years of experience with ADP or other HRIS systems.
  • Excellent skills in Google Suite and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • High accuracy in data entry and database maintenance.
  • Experience in recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates.
  • Experience in planning and implementing training events.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple projects.
