About the position

At Freeport-McMoRan, the Human Resources Generalist I plays a crucial role in supporting the HR functions within the Morenci operations, which is an open-pit copper mining complex. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to collaborate with site HR and Operations leadership to provide advice on HR and labor regulatory issues. The HR Generalist will implement Human Resources goals, processes, practices, and systems to enhance organizational and people capability, focusing on areas such as staffing, performance management, training and development, and employee relations. The role involves assisting and supporting employment and compliance-based investigations under the guidance of HR team members, as well as supporting workforce planning and forecasting initiatives that align with both site and Corporate HR processes and goals. The HR Generalist is responsible for implementing cost-effective and practical Human Resources solutions that ensure the organization can attract and retain the necessary skills. Additionally, the position requires assisting with various projects and HR improvements as directed by leadership, which includes facilitating change management, engagement, coaching, and advising stakeholders. Maintaining the privacy of employee personnel records, including compensation information, is a critical responsibility of this role. The HR Generalist will also participate as a company representative during legal and binding arbitration, appeal's board, and open-door processes to resolve disputes with employees. This position may require performing other duties as requested, making it a dynamic and integral part of the HR team at Freeport-McMoRan.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with site HR and Operations leadership to provide advice on HR and labor regulatory issues.
  • Implement Human Resources goals, processes, practices & systems to build organizational and people capability.
  • Assist and support employment and compliance-based investigations under the direction of HR team members.
  • Support workforce planning and forecasting initiatives in alignment with site and Corporate HR processes and goals.
  • Implement cost-effective and practical Human Resources solutions to attract and retain required skills.
  • Assist with projects and HR improvements as directed by leadership, facilitating change management, engagement, coaching, and advising stakeholders.
  • Protect and maintain the privacy of employee personnel records, including compensation information.
  • Participate as a Company representative during legal and binding arbitration, appeal's board, and open-door processes to settle disputes with employees.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of professional human resources experience.
  • Understanding of core aspects of Human Resources Management including staffing, employee relations, labor relations, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
  • Consultative and collaborative style and approach.
  • Confident communicator with effective written and verbal skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ambiguous business conditions.
  • Demonstrates high level of integrity and absolute confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities including a positive disposition, high level of accountability, and the ability to motivate others.
