About the position

The Human Resources Generalist I is responsible for processing various HR transactions, including managing hires for Graduate Assistants and other employee categories, tracking exit checklists, and ensuring compliance with payroll policies. This role involves communication with supervisors, processing HR forms, and maintaining tracking reports, all while providing support for time and labor processing. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a remote or flexible environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process various HR transactions in MyUFL, including ePAF hires for Graduate Assistants and other employee categories.
  • Track completion of Exit Checklists for terminating employees and forward them to HWCOE HR as appropriate.
  • Generate electronic LOAs for Graduate Assistant hires and reappointments.
  • Support time and labor processing, including reviewing paylists and requesting emergency checks.
  • Ensure bi-weekly payroll is processed and time and leave are approved for compliance with UF Policies.
  • Communicate with supervisors to complete Time & Labor training and provide additional instruction as needed.
  • Process, approve, or review HR forms and requests for accuracy and route for signatures.
  • Maintain various EBS tracking reports and track new hires, providing reminders of important dates.
  • Ensure evaluations for Graduate Assistants are completed on a semester basis and track unsatisfactory evaluations.
  • Attend meetings in person and via video call, providing backup for other HR staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of graduate assistant hiring processes and proficiency in ePAF submissions.
  • Experience processing international hires across various employee categories, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Excellent knowledge of UF Personnel and Payroll policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, specifically with Personnel and Payroll applications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact cordially with coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve problems and function under stress.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Software, particularly Word and Excel.
