About the position

The Human Resources Generalist II position at the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support, including classification and compensation management, recruitment, and adherence to HR policies and guidelines. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with state regulations and assisting management with various HR functions within District 3.

Responsibilities

  • Create job postings including referral and screening processes, routing, and certifying lists.
  • Provide HR assistance to staff regarding payroll, benefits, and compensation.
  • Offer technical assistance for time entry to program staff.
  • Process onboarding and offboarding, including payroll and benefits processing.
  • Enter all HR transactions into the Statewide Human Resources Accounting Reporting (SHARE) HCM and EDMS systems.
  • Act as a liaison for the General Office and Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) for payroll matters.
  • Monitor active recruitments, communicate with hiring managers, assist applicants with inquiries, and verify applicant qualifications.
  • Support compensation and classification transactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field with preferred experience in human resource operations, recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, investigations, and HR-related training.
  • Knowledge of New Mexico State Personnel Act and State Personnel Board Rules.
  • Experience with SHARE HCM system and all aspects of SHARE recruitment.
  • Data entry experience of HR actions into SHARE.
  • Experience in organizing and conducting new employee orientation.
