About the position

The Human Resources Generalist II is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resources department, including orientation, compensation, and enforcing company policies. This role involves professional-level HR work across various functional areas such as staffing, employee relations, and compliance with employment laws. The position is integral to maintaining employee records, facilitating hiring processes, and ensuring adherence to HR audit requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily workflow of the HR department for various branches within the District.
  • Assess company policies, programs, and procedures, and inform employees and management on their interpretation.
  • Facilitate the timely hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions in collaboration with department managers.
  • Analyze and provide advice to supervisors and managers on resolving employee work problems.
  • Maintain employee records ensuring accuracy of details such as job classification and pay rates.
  • Supervise the training of new hires and conduct new hire orientation.
  • Administer HR programs including DayForce maintenance, leaves, and terminations.
  • Handle employee disputes and investigations with oversight from the District HR Manager.
  • Maintain compliance with HR audit requirements and federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Develop and propose improvements to HR policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 3-5 years of HR related experience with proven HR applied proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for handling confidential situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to present professional presentations via various media formats.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn Ceridian DayForce systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR certification is a plus.
