About the position

SOSi has an opportunity for a hands-on Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support the Civil Solutions Business Unit in El Paso, TX. In this role, you will leverage your business acumen and HR experience to assist leaders and employees in achieving business outcomes through effective change management and employee engagement strategies, while also promoting operational effectiveness. The HR Generalist will collaborate with SOSi's functional units and HR's centers of excellence to ensure the successful execution of various HR functions including on-boarding, off-boarding, employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance. This position will support both site-specific and company-wide HR initiatives and projects, making it a vital role within the organization. As an HR Generalist, you will partner with employees and management to interpret and communicate HR policies, procedures, employment laws, standards, and government regulations. You will respond to inquiries from employees and managers regarding sensitive and confidential HR matters, maintaining a high level of discretion and professionalism. Additionally, you will stay informed about employment and labor laws, making recommendations as necessary to ensure compliance and best practices. Your responsibilities will include investigating, documenting, and resolving employee relations issues and grievances, as well as assisting with the coordination and delivery of new employee on-boarding, orientation, and other employee-related programs. You will also coordinate employee transfers, promotions, and status changes, and manage employee departures by conducting exit interviews, analyzing data, and providing recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement. Furthermore, you will assist in the administration of internal surveys and maintain various reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees and management to interpret and communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, employment laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and managers concerning a variety of sensitive and confidential human resources matters.
  • Maintain awareness of employment and labor laws and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Answer front-line HR related and benefits questions from employees and escalate complex questions and issues to the appropriate groups.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve employee relations issues and grievances.
  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of new employee on-boarding, orientation, and other employee-related programs.
  • Coordinate and communicate employee transfers, promotions, and other status changes to relevant parties.
  • Coordinate employee departures, conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and assist with the administration of internal surveys.
  • Write, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries, utilizing appropriate reporting tools.
  • Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of programs.
  • Maintain and coordinate contract specific employee recognition programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources or a related field.
  • 4 years of human resources generalist experience or 8 years of progressive experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree with HR, including significant exposure to employee relations, employment and labor laws, benefits, and compensation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS, Outlook, Internet navigation and research.
