About the position

The Human Resources Generalist, Learning & Development (L&D) at Teachers College, Columbia University, is a key member of the Client Services Team, responsible for supporting assigned client groups throughout the employee life cycle. This role focuses on implementing effective HR strategies, promoting positive employee relations, and executing Learning & Development initiatives to enhance employee skills and organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sr. HR Business Partner & Talent Management Lead on various L&D initiatives.
  • Lead L&D projects including facilitating training, developing surveys, and creating training materials.
  • Maintain records of training and development activities and manage learning content on TCHR's website.
  • Execute key HR initiatives and provide responsive internal employee support.
  • Provide counsel and coaching on HR fundamentals to management and employees.
  • Coach managers in recruiting, staffing, and employee engagement.
  • Support communication and administration of HR policies and regulations.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience as an HR Coordinator, HR Generalist, or related role.
  • At least one year of experience in a role that required facilitating training.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong initiative and judgment skills with knowledge of HR programs and applicable laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Strong presentation skills and proficiency with multimedia training platforms.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and design effective training.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
