About the position

The Human Resource Generalist position at CertainTeed in Williamsport, MD, is a newly created role due to business expansion. This position is pivotal in managing and implementing a wide range of Human Resources initiatives that are essential for the smooth operation of the plant. The HR Generalist will be responsible for various functions including recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, and managing the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). This role also involves leading and managing key projects aimed at improving HR systems and processes, ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations, and conducting daily analyses and additional HR reporting using Excel. In this role, the HR Generalist will create onboarding plans and educate all hourly new hires on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations. They will assist the HR Coordinator with the current recruitment plan based on operational and sales projections. The HR Generalist will generate official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, and warning letters. They will also promote the company’s LiveWell program, providing support to employees in completing program requirements, and facilitate bi-monthly meetings and projects for LiveWell Champions. Additionally, the HR Generalist will create employee engagement plans, obtain necessary budget approvals, and initiate activities to enhance employee morale. Collaboration with outside vendors for employee activities, meal setups, and assisting the HR Manager with coordinating employee performance and appraisals will also be part of the responsibilities. The HR Generalist will provide assistance to employees regarding benefits, payroll, and policy issues, including conducting new hire orientations and follow-up sessions for benefit enrollment. This role will also involve providing backup support to other HR department employees and assisting with various tasks as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a similar discipline required.
  • HR certification preferred but not required.
  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources, particularly in the manufacturing sector.
  • Working knowledge of HR policies and procedures and training.
  • Thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong command of technology including MS Office 365, HRIS, and applicant tracking systems.
  • Excellent skills with data entry and analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution.
