About the position

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties at a professional level, collaborating closely with the Human Resources Manager, Corporate HR staff, and plant supervisors and managers. This role encompasses the recruitment and onboarding process for both non-exempt and exempt employees, ensuring positive employee relations, and involvement in training, policy implementation, affirmative action, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Administers human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains employee handbook, policies, and procedures manual.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assists in benefits administration by communicating benefit information to employees including enrollment dates and changes to new plans.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, including writing and placing advertisements.
  • Conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing, performance, and development.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintains facility organization charts.
  • Assists in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Works with management to seek out ways to reduce turnover.
  • Maintains human resources information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Acts as Safety Committee representative and manages workplace safety.
  • Maintains OSHA Logs and manages Workers Comp, FMLA, and LOA process.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five to seven years of Human Resources experience, or a master's degree in Human Resources and two to three years of Human Resources experience, or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual skills highly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of FMLA, EEO, Workers Compensation, OSHA, and ADA.
  • Advanced skills in ethical conduct and confidentiality.
  • Proficient problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
